The Man Cave, we have all heard about them. Garages, upstairs game rooms, and even backyard sheds are being turned into madeover male mental health facilities. A place for men to be able to “escape” from the stress of the day and just chill.
Well, say hello to the She-Shack or Mom Cave! These rooms of rest are all about getting a little “me” time! Hey, we have all been there…family, work, and life can get the better of you! With so many moms in the workforce, there has been a huge increase in the desire to create a space where women can retreat, rest, and rejuvenate. Turning any space into a sanctuary is as simple or as complex as you, your time, and your budget will allow. From completely remodeling to simply redecorating, no space is too big or too small to be converted into a place of peace and tranquility.
A few simple ideas to keep in mind before starting this project:
1-You do, you! Whatever makes you smile, whatever brings you calm, whatever takes your mind off of the stress of the day, try to find a way to incorporate those things into this area. Decor, color, foliage, light, etc. all make worlds of difference in creating a space of rejuvenation.
2-Location, location, location! Whether indoor or outdoor, make your decision based on availability and accessibility…or lack thereof! Turning your kiddo’s playroom into a place of rest would not be optimal.
3-Timing is everything! Commit yourself and your family, that for a specified period, mommy will not be available. Don’t come looking for her, she is a vapor, a mist, a mirage and if you want to live to see tomorrow, you will not see her. Seriously, though, after the allotted time, when you come back to the family radiant and ready to face the rest of the day, they will understand that this time is important for them too.
So, move over man cave and make room for the merry mom-maker!
