RESIDENTIAL GARAGE DOOR

Garage Door Off Track

If you have a garage door that is off track, there are several reasons why this might have happened. A typical reason for this is that one or both of the garage door cables may be broken. These cables may break with simple wear and tear or consistently heavy use. Commonly, a cable can break one side at a time and or while being opened. Beside the possibility of the cables breaking, there are a few additional reasons a garage door may be off track. In some cases, garage doors may be off track because of worn out rollers, worn out torsion system bearings, an obstruction or by being hit by a vehicle or other outside source. Today, most garage doors have an electric eyes to prevent and protect the track from obstructions however some older makes and models of garage doors may not have this feature. If your garage door happens to be off track, for your safety, please do not attempt to move or operate the garage door as this may cause you or a member of your family bodily harm.
